Q: Any Ideas for a small business this upcoming Holiday Season?
Hello everyone. Christmas is fast approaching and its the best time to start making profit and start a small business. Do you have any ideas that I can easily do as business for the holidays? I am currently employed in an IT company so I only have time to do this during the weekends.
Normal business ideas for the holidays are food like fruitcakes, brownies, candies, making personalized christmas cards, christmas decors, etc.
Maybe you have other suggestions?
A: Are you crafty. My sister-in-law and niece are very talented and make beaded jewelry and do very well at craft shows and holiday bazaars. In the past they handmade Christmas decorations--Mr. and Mrs. Santa candle holders out of wood that they decorated and painted (very artistic--but not me), a Rudolph cut out of wood where the body, legs, antlers were all separate like a puzzle so it could be stored easily). I don't know if they sent away for catalogs or what. So if you have a passion that you can channel into something unusual that the public will buy, I say go for it. I know my relatives didn't have much money invested in their little enterprises.
Q: How do you feel about the form letter with Christmas cards?
I normally don't send cards out to people during the holidays, but this year I decided to do so. I also wrote a form letter to go with the greeting card. The card itself will be personalized with my Holiday wishes but there is also the letter that I typed up to go with it, with this year's new and happenings. I've gotten them in the past and I don't mind them, but some people think of them as insensitive and unsociable. What do you think and why? I'm just curious about your opinions and there isn't a right or wrong answer.
Thanks Suki! That's a good idea. I didn't think of that. I will do that.
A: Only send these letters to friends who are genuinely interested in what you and your family have been doing in the last year. But write the recipient's name and yours by hand.
Q: What is the best Christmas present for Employees?
What is the best Christmas present for Employees. I am new to this company and in charge of the employees in our department. past years was a gift basket movie theme ie: popcorn soda blockbuster gift card,, Personalized stockings filled and then bathand body works one year . I am stumped I have $25-$40 per person to spend.
A: How about gift certs to the movies.
Q: Is my gift memorable to my special friend?
To begin, it's a picture frame. A personalized christmas card and a picture of us in it. Will this be special for her?
A: yeah thats really cute!!
i would love if my friend got me a framed picture of us =]
Q: can i get my best friend a gift card for christmas?
my best friend told me she wants a gift card for christmas but i want to get her something more personalized and special, like a necklace or perfume- i hate giving gift cards. if she asked for it should i just get it for her..? and how much should it be for?
A: If she wants it, give it to her. I am all for more personalized and special gifts, too, but if the person I was buying a gift for specifically requested a gift card, I'd get it. It's obviously something they want.
How good is your best friend and what can you afford? I would say that $25-$50 is appropriate, but if your best friend is more like a member of the family, I'd go for something more.
You could also do both gift ideas at the same time. Buy her something special and personalized and then give her a gift card for a smaller amount. That way you have satisfied yourself and your best friend.
Q: Have no money, need christmas gift ideas?
Ok so i am a poor college student, all the family knows, yet I still need to get them something for christmas. I was thinking cards with personalized quotes on them but thats all i can think of. Thx
A: just bring yer @ss...there's always next year.
Q: Is this considered cute??
OK...you know how people are putting pics of their cats and dogs, etc on their personalized Christmas Cards? Well---my I have this adorable picture of Harry, my pet tarantula, with a little elf hat on....Would that be tacky for my cards for next year??
A: Any chance you could find eight tiny elf shoes to complete the ensemble? Perhaps with little bells at the toes?
Q: looking for a unique/cute name for online store?
looking to open my own store online to sell personalized cards (Birth Announcements, Christmas cards, Birthday invites, baptism, ect.)
some things you may include in the name can be:
my name/nickname (Tami, Tamster, Tamiboo)
my sons name/nickname ( Dominic, Nic, NicNac)
any ideas?
A: Why don't you just NicNac('s)?
since a knickknack is a small trinket
and (I presume) they're pronounced the same
Q: Can someone help me choose the right/proper word for this sentence I want to write to my boss?
My boss sent all his employees a personalized photo Christmas card. The card shows my boss, his wife, and their adorable 8 month old baby girl.
I want to say thanks for the ______ Christmas card. Should I say nice, great, what word should I use with the Christmas card to describe how happy my husband and I were to receive that yesterday?
Any suggestions are helpful!
A: How about something like:
I was delighted to receive your Christmas Card and both I and my husband and I were pleased that you took the time and effort to send it. In return, we would like to wish you all the best for this Christmas and for the coming New Year.
Q: Do you send out holiday cards?
More and more people no longer send out Christmas cards, which is sad. I always took the weeks between Thanksgiving and early December to write out cards with personal notes in them. As I think back, I also used to send cards to certain people for Thanksgiving, Easter, and birthdays. For some reason, I seem to have stopped doing that over the years. I still do the Christmas card thing, though. Do you send cards and for what reason? Do you just sign your name or do you take the time to actually write personalized notes?
A: I have always enjoyed sending cards as much as receiving them. Since I moved to Europe I tend to write only to my family and very very close old friends. Only because cards here are more expensive, and hard to find. I really miss my Hallmark cards in the states...keep making your friends and family happy by sending your cards...it's such a nice feeling to know somêone took the time to do it.
Q: How can I fill in my face on a card?
Can someone please give me a website where I can fill in a Christmas card with my face. I have received them before. They are cards when for example, singing elves come on the screen, but instead of an elf face it is the senders face. Please send me a link so I can personalize my own!
Thanks,
N!

Q: Creating Holiday Cards: Tips? Design, Photography, Cost?
Hi,
I just finished a graphic design program. I also own a petcare business.
I would like to start a side business offering my petcare clients design work. Specifically, I would like to offer to design clients' holidays cards for friends and family.
What is the best way to go about this?
I am a decent photographer. I also am a decent designer.
So, should I buy blank car stock and design and print out 3-4 templates of designs, each with an attached photograph taped in the middle? If I use a printing shop, they will charge me an arm and a leg to print only 4 samples. But I can't print a full bleed with printer at home, not to mention the quality wouldn't be great.
Or do I just find cute pre-designed Christmas cards with a photo spot and only worry about taking the photograph? But I would assume that most clients would want a personalized message inside. And how much money could I really make if I didn't design it? But the outside printing would already be done, so that would save some money, maybe?
So , what do you suggest?
Has anyone done this on a small scale? I have 15 clients and I would guess that 7-8 of them will take me up on the holiday card design. I am assuming that each client will order 50-60 cards, at least.
What do I charge? What is the most cost efficient way to do this?
A: Check out cafepress.com
you can upload your work onto their site, put your designs on their products & they sell it for you, they have cards, apparel, posters, a lot of other things. They're really great to work with. I don't make a fortune from them, but I do sell quite a bit. Have fun.
Q: Why is some of my mail not getting to me from USPS?
I ordered Lion King Musical tickets in early November and never received the tickets. I called ticketmaster and they said that they were mailed out a month ago. So they cancelled those tickets out and I have to pick p my tickets at the window when I get there.
About 2 weeks ago I ordered personalized photo Christmas cards from Kodak and never received those either. I don't know if they'll refund those.
If mail that I'm expecting isn't getting to me it makes me wonder about important mail that I don't know about that might not be getting to me. I live in a townhouse so there is a lock on the mailbox that only the postman has so I know my neighbors aren't stealing it.
What is happening to my mail?
A: Identity thieves can often get into even locked mailboxes. The "standalone" ones generally aren't too bad, but the ones in apartment buildings are a lot more vulnerable than you'd think. They often leave it looking as if it was never touched, as well.
Check your credit report just to set your mind at ease. If someone has been tampering with things, you often have a limited amount of time to set things straight.
I would try the first posters suggestion, its a good idea.
You might want to considering getting a locked PO box at a post office, though.
Q: what can you get a bunch of your friends for christmas?
It's christmas and I have a lot of friends from school. last year I could only give out a few presents to some of them. this year I want to do something different and be able to give a lot of people.
last year I bought plastic goblets, stuffed them with candies and bowed them up. my close friends received teddy bears and my band friends got personalized cards.
I need something more creative. got any bright cheap ideas for me? I can spend around $20-$30 on them
it has to be unisex so I can give it to both my girl AND guy friends
A: lip glosses (different colors)
tiny lotion bottle (different scents)
Cheap earrings (Icing)
Homemade Sweets
♥♥I love Christmas, don't you?♥♥
Q: Should I get my professor something for christmas and as a thank you present?
okay - i searched and, well, i figured i would pretty much figured that i would get him a gift card to B&N or personalized pen from Things Remembered.
but anyway, i am wondering if i even should get him something when im gonna write him a letter thanking him for everything he had done for me.
its gonna be both a thank you gift and a christmas gift.
is it perfectly alright to give him both a gift card and a letter? or any other ideas you could suggest?
thanks in advance! XD
he taught me last semester and this semester, i dont have a class with him but he is helping me with my letters of recommendation
also - in terms of amount in gift cards - how much is too much?
im graduating this semester so i cant take another class taught by him. although - yea, about ethics... can he refuse the gift card? :/
thanks for all your insights! XD
A: Definitely go with the bookstore/coffee shop gift certificate. Any amount is fine-$20 to $25 if you can manage it would be perfect. Write the thank you note. Not only do you appreciate him, but you never know when you're going to need another reference or recommendation letter. You'll probably be calling on him for a while, maybe even years. One gift and note this time around will be just fine.
