Q: what kind of christmas crafts can i make to give as gifts?
i need some ideas on cheap semi easy crafts i can make and give for gifts (example cake in a jar. but i cant find any jars!!) please help i really want them to be special from the heart
A: The jars for cake mixes, cookie mixes, etc can be any kind. Mayo jars work admirably for this.
The thing is in the decorating of the jar! You can get some of those cute decals, cheap, and put them on the clean jar, you can get the etching stuff and do an etched design on the very plain jane jars. You can use a bit of fabric and ruined stockings for padding the lid with some ribbon or lace around it.
You can also make a sleeve to put on the jar from your computer and printer with a picture of what you have in the jar, ie: cake, and the instructions for cooking it. Use tape to secure the sleeve to fit the jar.
Salvation Army, other thrift stores, garage sales, etc are good places to find jars of all sizes cheap!
Q: Do you know of any Christmas crafts using baby food jars?
I'm looking for some easy crafts to use up old baby food jars. If you know of any please let me know and maybe even a link. Thanks
A: I have two suggestions:
You can decorate them with glass paints, beads, glass tiles, etc and use them as candle holders.
You can make spice mixes, like for chili, soup, rib rub, etc and put them in the jars and include a recipe to use the spice mix.
I founds some links, too. Hope they help!
Q: What Christmas crafts with an 11 month old?
I am wondering if anyone may have any ideas they may like to share with me on which crafts are safe and fun to create with an 11 month old girl. Thank you
A: How about getting a potato & carving a Xmas pattern in it? Use child-safe paint & butchers paper & hold the potato in your littlies hand & put it in the paint & press on paper. Make sure you are both wearing old or protective clothing.
It would make lovely wrapping paper for Rellies. Have fun.
Q: Please, I need some ideas for christmas crafts?
My cousins 16th birthday is on christmas, and shes spending it at my house. and i want some really cool decorating ideas that i could do around the house...but no birthday ideas, just good x-mas decorations that would look really good and surprise her for her b-day.
any ideas??
i want things that are either super cheap
or things i can find around the house
A: You can always make your own decorations. Use any kind of pine, cedar in your yard or woods, and make wreaths with berries; also found on these trees or woods. You can make garland with them, using brightly colored ribbons and so forth. You can also make candle rings out of the same stuff, and place bright candles in with them. You can set your candles on old saucers or plates,etc...Use a glue gun, or if you don't have one use clear tape. Good luck.
Q: What are some good crafts for Christmas?
Me and my friend are going to make crafts for thanksgiving and christmas, i already have some thanksgiving ideas but i don't know what to do for christmas...plz help asap!
~thanks
A: My favorite Christmas craft is to make ornaments using the plain glass balls that you can decorate.
You can find them at any craft store, and they are made by Darice and come in boxes of either 4 or 10 depending on the size. And there are many things you can do with them. For instance, make a mixture of glue and water, equal parts of both, and put into a little squeeze bottle. Take the top off the ornament, and squirt the glue a little of the mixture inside. Then swirl it around until it coats the entire inside. Turn the ornament over and let the excess drip out. Then, dump really fine glitter inside and swirl that around until it is completely covered. You want to make sure that there is a pretty thin layer of glue so that the glitter sticks, but doesn't get blobby. Then you can put the top back on the ornament, tie a coordinating ribbon around the top, and through the loop on top so that you can hang it on the tree!
You can also use acrylic paints in the same way. Just squirt one, two, or as many colors as you want inside and swirl it around.
Another cool thing is to make a copy of a photo onto transparency and shrink it down to fit inside the ornament. Then cut around the photo, in a circle, with a little tab at the top. Gently roll the picture, stick it inside the opening and let it uncurl. The tab at the top should sit insided the "neck" of the ornament to keep it from falling or shifting.
When I was a kid, I painted puzzle pieces green, and arranged them in a wreath shape. Then I glued little red pom poms and rhinestones and bows to it and put my picture at the bottom. It was a really cute ornament!
A couple more ideas:
- Christmas cards for your family and friends.
- You can make your own wrapping paper. Just buy plain brown craft paper on a roll and stamp or write quotes or draw pictures on it and make your own wrapping paper!
- Stockings (you can find many patterns at a craft store, or make your own!)
- You can decorate the paper mache deer that they usually have at craft stores. You can paint them to be realistic, or just gold, or something like that and then put a little wreath or a bow around their neck.
- Advent calendar
- Beaded ornaments (Again, they have kits for these, or you can make you own)
- If you have kids in your family you can have them make puppets that represent different Christmas characters, or if you are religious, you can make them to represent Jesus and Mary and Joseph and they can act out the Nativity story for the family or you can make up a Christmas story they can act out. Then can be made from felt, or even paper bags!
I hope I was able to give you a couple more ideas!

Q: i want to know how to make a cinnamon stain to "grubby up" my halloween and christmas crafts?
i've seen this done to other crafts (snowmen, santas,...) and like the primitive/rustic look, how can i do this? any tips to help my crafts retain the great scents would be appreciated too. thanks!
A: You actually use coffee or tea for the "grubbying up". I usually use tea...boil the bags in a large pot then put the fabric in. The longer it sits the darker it gets. Once you have the desired look, wring out the material and place in the dryer to "set in" the stain. You can add vanilla and cinnamon to the water for a delicious scent.
Good luck and happy crafting!
Q: What are some good Christmas arts & crafts, activities, or recipes(cookies etc) for a 2 year old to help make?
We already decorated our Christmas tree, but I need more ideas. This is her first Christmas she can actually help me do things, and I want to make the best of it. So far she enjoys Christmas time a lot.
=)
Thank you!
A: A Gingerbread House would be really fun I think.
