Q: Does anyone know an easy craft to do with a preschooler?
I am wanting to do Christmas crafts swith my 2 and 4 year old , butI can't think of any. Please let me know of any Christmas crafts that can be done with children. They like crafts that have to do with and without food.
A: You can have them make home made holiday cards for their parents, teachers, grandparents etc. Make ornimants for their tree. Also here are some alternative recipies to makeing a gingerbread house
Yummy Graham Cracker Christmas Houses
In lieu of gingerbread, graham crackers may be used for fast and easy walls and roof structures. Thick icing is needed for “gluing” walls together, as the crackers are thin and will not stand up easily on their own. These houses can be small and square or larger with add-on rooms.
For younger children, double-walled house shapes could be built in advance and left to dry before little ones decorate them. The double walls will help make the houses less fragile. Making a few extras is helpful as some may get crunched or dropped.
Fun Sugar Cube “Gingerbread” Houses
Sugar cube houses are great fun. Sugar cubes are used as sweet bricks for making block and mortar structures. The pretty white sparkle of the sugar cubes already suggests ice and snow and their chunky shapes are simple to stack and “glue” with icing.
Have a Pretzel Log Cabin Party
What fun to shake things up and make a log cabin style non-gingerbread house. Stores often carry thick log-shaped stick pretzels. Like Lincoln Log toys, these can be stacked alternately and held together using frosting like log cabin chinking to fill the crevices. When the houses are complete, they may be decorated with frosting and candy much like the others.
Tips for any Graham Cracker, Sugar Cube, or Pretzel Candy House Party
While it is not likely to make much of an impact on party guests, little ones will need reminding not to lick fingers or plastic utensils and then “re-dip.” Very little children may do better with their own little piles of candy on their own plate.
Each child needs a stiff, portable platform (foil-covered plain cardboard, for instance) on which to build. This makes a nice base for frosting and candy yard details and walkways. A base also makes it easier to carry creations home. Having boxes available will protect the houses further.
Supplies for Building Gingerbread Houses
Besides the main house materials, edible decorations are necessary:
Homemade frosting in white and various colors (store-bought dries too slow and is too creamy)
Slightly thinner white frosting is pretty for dripping on roofs to make snow and icicles
Melted white chocolate or vanilla bark
Colored sugar (green is good for grass)
M&Ms and mini M&Ms
Mini candy canes
Shredded coconut (for snow)
Frosted MiniWheats cereal (for thatched roofs)
Chocolate bars (to break into windows and stepping stones)
Gummy candies (rings make wreaths, bears can be in the yard)
Small jellybeans (for stones or?)
Have fun!!
Q: Help, Christmas Cards/Crafts. :/?
I need some craft/card ideas for table time.
(Fyi, Table time is when me and my children, and husband, sit at the table, Do crafts, and talk about our day and just relax and have fun ;))
We send cards and stuff to my In-laws and I was wondering, what kinds of things we can do.
This year I was thinking of showing my oldest, how to sew.
Any ideas along the lines of sewing? :S
Thanks a bunch♥ You guys are a big help :)
To send to my in=-Laws*
A: Here is a great site for projects to do with the kids:
http://familyfun.go.com/arts-and-crafts/season/specialfeature/christmas-crafts-ms/
An easy sewing project would be stockings, like on the above site.
Q: Activities for troubled children- winter? Christmas?
I work at a facility that assists children with psychological needs. We are an after school program and from time to time, we like to do fun stuff.. but the fun stuff must be helpful (therapeutic) in someway.
I have done a TON of crafts and groups with these kids and am currently running out of ideas. I know the best ideas aren't those written in books, it's ideas from you fine folks that also work with kids of this nature.. If you could be as kind as to share something with me or help direct me I would appreciate it.
Thank you!
A: Does it snow where you are. If so how about letting them play in the snow. They can still be creative and even get some of their anger out with a snowball fight.
Q: I had a craft project my children did for my mother for christmas?
And the back part of it has been misplaced. So i asked my husband what he did with it. He did move it and the box it came in. he said i did not move it. I said oh i know you did.
Anyway then he got in my face and started to point his finger and say i am tired of you accusing me of moving things. he seemed pretty mad. and said if you do that one more time. but didnt finish his sentence.
I am kind of mad....i was pretty much joking when i said oh i know you did. do i have a right to be upset he was pretty mean
I just bought another back to it. He did move the front part of it but the back to it is missing.
It just makes me so mad when a man bigger than you gets in your face and starts yelling.
A: Pick your battles. This is not that big of a deal. Your husband is probably sick of you accusing him all the time. Even if you were joking he is probably stressed out and sick of every thing. We all have our days. I catch myself being naggy to my husband..the last thing I want to do is push him away. Be nicer to him.
Q: I need Ideas for children's crafts ages 7 and 8?
My boys send cards and things back to NC for the holidays. I need some ideas for them to make that would fit into a 6"x9" envelope, light weight, and cheap because there are a lot of relatives to send to. They are tired of just making cards. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
A: I made this with my kids a few years back and it's still up on my fridge (and at both grandmas' houses).
You can buy those foam sheets. They come in different colours. You can get them at craft stores and even dollar stores. They even have flowers and butterflies and other things made out of them, a whole package for really cheap.
I bought that paint in a tube that you can write on fabric with, that is elevated and dries hard. I comes in different colours. They buy a roll of magnet tape, peel the back and cut to size and stick on the back.
The kids made photo frames, one solid piece one cut and hot glued all but the top and slipped a photo in it. So instant frame for the fridge and was so cute and it's lightweight and you can mail it no problem. You can make animals too, flowers, a Christmas tree or ornament too...your imagination is the limit.
Q: How do Germans celebrate Christmas Eve?
I teach Kindergarten and would love to share the traditions of a German Christmas with my class. This would also include crafts and art the children could make and display. German recipes to cook with the children would be wonderful also.
A: German Christmas happens on the eveing of December 24th. It's Baby Jesus himself who bings the presents (pretty amazing that, and keeps young Germans thinking that young kids can do a lot if only they put their mind to it). The Christmas tree is being decorated all day by the parents in the secrecy of the living room, and no kid is allowed in during that time. Instead, everybody eats something ostentatiously simple in the kitchen for lunch. usually pea soup with wieners, or, in Bvaria, white sausages and pretzels. In the evening, when the tree is all done up and the presents placed beneath the tree, a bell rings (rung by the parents, of course), and the door to the living room mysteriously opens, and there are all the presents under the tree... but first, songs will need to be sung (Ihr Kinderlein kommet, Oh Tannenbaum), and the Gospel after Luke needs to be read. After that, it's happy unwrapping time, and the grown-ups will open a bottle of champagne.
Afterwards, there is usually a relatively light dinner of fish dishes (lobster, oysters, etc.).
The real pig-out happens on December 25, when goose with dumplings and red cabbage is served, with lots of gravy and red wine.
Hm, makes me want to go back to Germany this year...
Have fun with your class.
Q: I need ideas for something to make my children for a special gift for Christmas/ Serious suggestions please?
Hi I really want to make my children something very special for Christmas. I was diagnosed with breast cancer last week and I want to make this Christmas very special for them. I want to give them each (Kathy is 6 very girlie, Gavin 4, and Brena is 9 months) something they can enjoy even as though they grow so obviously not clothes. I paint, crochet a little, and do general crafts a lot. If you have any suggestion on what to make or a web site that has good ideas along these lines I would be so grateful. Thank you so much and god bless
A: How about an ornament for your Christmas tree? I know it sounds hokey, but something made from the heart is one of the most valuable family heirlooms that can be passed down from generation to generation.
ADDED: Rowan, keep dumb comments to yourself, not funny.
Q: Anyone have any simple Christmas craft ideas using food?
The children are 5 & 6 years old. Decorating cookies? Sandwiches? We do not have enough time for gingerbread houses. Thank you.
A: Buy some precut Christmas cookies and some colored
decorating frosting. Bake the cookies and have a blast with the
children as you decorate the cookies.
Q: Christmas craft ideas?
I work with children, and I am tired of all the same Christmas craft ideas, please help!
All ages and all ideas welcome. thanks
A: I made a clay (maybe even playdough) ornament when i was in pre-k or k.... and my mom still puts it up every year ... i love it and its strong enough to last through the years.
you can also do one of those cookie-in-a-jar things. make all the kids measure out the ingredients for cookies, muffins, or whatever and put it in nice jars - so they have a gift to give their parents... then it serves 2 purposes. All you would have to get are the jars and ingredients. Then the kids can decorate the jars. so its really a 3 in one craft... put it together, decorate, make the goodies at home with parents.
Q: What is your child's favorite toy they received for Christmas?
For my daughter, it's definitely her crafts kit. She LOVES painting!
A: My oldest daughter loves this Littlest Pet Shop game that plugs into her TV. It's probably a tie between that and her cupcake maker.
My 4 year old son loves his Power Wheels Santa brought him
and my 15 month old daughter has not put down her ELMO baby.

Q: Looking for craft fairs in Surrey?
hi, my g/f is looking to maybe run a stall at (christmas) craft fair in Surrey in the run up to Christmas. Shes hand paints children's furniture , so thinks this would fit in well with such an event. Having a hard time looking for quality events that are likely to be a good experience for a first timer but also make a few quid out of it ;-). Ideally in Surrey before Christmas would be best. Any other craft fair users out there that can recommend anything?

Q: I'm looking for a Christmas picture book for kids, it was printed at least 10 yrs ago... ?
When I was a girl, I had a Christmas book and now that I'm an adult I'd like to buy it for my kids. I think it was printed about AT LEAST 10 years ago.
The book was a picture book for children during Christmas time... I specifically remember it had between 175-250 pages, and had crafts for the family (with pictures of step-by-step instructions), recipes for Christmas cooking (pictures of the ingredients and final foods), and Christmas songs (The Xmas songs had actual music notes and beats for piano playing with illustrations next to it). There was a Santa Claus on the front cover with his reindeer in the background flying in the night sky. Does anyone know a book 'like' this? If so, can you tell me the author and illustrator. Thanks in advance.
Thanks Mackenzie and Roxy for responding with nothing. Completely useless answers should be deleted by the asker... If you read my question, I specifically said "LIKE THIS." Stupid ppl just make me so anguished.
A: Hmm, I couldn't seem to find it, but you might ask your local librarian. I did find this book, which seems similar for what you're after! :)

Q: I need a preschool craft project, please help?
All th parents in my daughters preschool (4's) are asked to come in and do a craft with your talent with the children. I need to do a Christmas craft w/ them I would like yo keep the budget under 50 dollars and there is 19 children in the class so it can't be too elaberate. Also it is a Christian school so a religous theme would also be apprecited. Scrap ideas are great as well I am looking for a fun diffrent idea... Thanks!
A: I did this craft with the kids I taught in preschool and they loved it. It's an advent calendar with two parts. It will look like a lot of instructions, but it's really simple to do. The first part is a little time consuming and you may want to do it ahead of time and just bring it with you to the school. The first part is the wall hanging. Take a light brown piece of paper and fold it over a little less than half way, you want one side to be longer. On the folded part write or type out and glue on "For unto you is born this day a Savior who is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11". Then you will need some string or ribbon. Lay the ribbon into the fold of the paper and glue the folder part down to the other side. Tie a bow in the ribbon so it can be hung up. On the longer part of the paper, the non-glued section, you're going to write the numbers 1-25 all across the bottom, then cut in between each number (like those flyers where you pull off the phone number to call). Leave them all attached to the rest of the wall hanging, this is the hay that the kids can pull off each day before Christmas and put in the manger they will make. The second part is the manger. You will need popsicle sticks, brown paint (optional), some squares of cloth, a little wooden figure or rounded wooden clothes pin from a craft store, school glue, and heavy craft glue. Next have the kids make the manger with popsicle sticks. I've done it where the make a box or the more traditional X shaped manger, it's up to you how to make it and the age of the kids. If you want to get really involved the kids can paint the manger, but again that's up to you. Then you have the kids wrap the wooden figure in the cloth and use the heavy craft glue to keep the cloth on the figure. If they want, they can draw a face on their baby Jesus. Then they can put the baby in the manger and tell them everyday they can put a piece of hay in the manger to give baby Jesus a soft bed to sleep on. Then when they put that last piece of hay in, it's Jesus' birthday! I've done this with my daughter at home the last couple years and she loves it. We sing Away in a Manger and she gives baby Jesus a tiny hug and kiss before she puts him back the manger with the new piece of hay everyday. It's really fun and a different kind of advent calendar. Anyway, if my directions are unclear and you are interested, please feel free to send me an email through Yahoo Answers and I'll try to explain it better if I can. I know it looks long, but it's really not. Good luck!
Q: Christmas gift ideas?
I need some suggestions for Christmas gifts.I have a large family I need many gifts but little to no cash this year. I was thinking of making or getting the children involved making crafts or some sort of gift baskets. I need gifts for Moms, dads, brothers and in laws.
any ideas?
A: Homeade is the way to go! Have fun with your kids and let them help you out. How about a day of baking and make all kinds of cookies/fudge etc. You can wrap those up, and give them to everyone. My grandma does that for all of her kids/grandkids. She makes all kinds of things, puts them on a Christmas plate and ta-da. I love getting her homeade goodies. She also throws in like a Christmas hand towel or some candles. For a guy you could always throw in like an air freshner for the car, or something to wash the car with, what guy doesn't like stuff like that?
