Q: What gifts can I make that aren't really corny, overdone, or unusable?
I'm short on cash this Christmas, but I'm pretty good at crafty things. I want to make some of my gifts, but I don't want them to be the usual boring, overdone crafts (picture frames, ornaments, etc.) Does anybody have any really good ideas? These are going to a variety of different people, so the kind of recipient isn't an issue. Thanks!

A: Bake cookies!! You can make frosting from food coloring, confectioner's sugar, and milk really easily and decorate tons of cookies for pretty cheap.

Q: Do you remember this craft and know where I can order some?
When I was a kid I used to make these things that were like stained glass. You start with little metal frames and you place them on foil on a baking pan then you put these little plastic pieces into the frames and bake in the oven. When its done the plastic has melted and looks like stained glass. I had made a set of Christmas tree ornaments from a kit I think came from the sears catalog. If you know what they are called or where I can get some please let me know.

A: They are called "Makit & Bakit" you can get it at Hobby Lobby or any other craft store. Shrinky Dinks are fun, too!

Q: Martha Stewart Christmas Special?
Did anyone see the special aired last week where she made ornaments with yarn, kind of using the paper mache method. I'm trying to look up the ingredients to make the mix but can't find it. We're having craft day this weekend and I need to give my friends a list of what to bring. COOL, THANKS, THAT IS THE LINK. I LOOKED FOR IT FOR LIKE 2 DAYS AND COULDN'T FIND IT. THANK YOU!

A: is this it?

Q: Favorite thing during Christmas season?
I love the Christmas Nativity plays. I have so many wonderful memories of making costumes, gluing hundreds of chicken feathers to little angel wings, singing carols with the kids hundreds of times to practice, etc. I just love the Nativity plays and helping the children with them. I love decorating. I love the sewing and crafting of ornaments. I love cutting evergreens and making swags and wreaths. I love wrapping presents and making pretty bows and ingenious gift tags. I love visiting the nursing home and spending time with the residents. I especially love taking the kids to carol there. I do not really love baking, but some people do. Shopping is ok, but not that exciting. What is everyone else's favorite holiday activity?

A: The only time of the year where everyone seems to be on the same page. I love getting a warm "Merry Christmas" from anyone. I love gingerbread men and fruit cakes. I love snow, and throwing snowballs at unsuspecting people. I love the lights and I'm sure the power company does too. I love the anticipation, even though I know I'm not getting anything at all given to me. I love the hope that somehow this time of the year brings God down to our level, instead of the rest of the year where it feels impossible to approach him. I love seeing other people happy, even though I may never be. It's a holiday for the children and families, so I wish everyone who has them to make this year extra special, because for some, it's just another day. But what a day...

Q: Any ideas of easy Christmas ornaments to make with an 8 and 9 year old?
I am a Nanny and was thinking of doing a Christmas ornament craft with the kids. I'm looking for something cheap, easy and quick because these kids have a low attention span!

A: Christmas Pine Cone Tree Ornament You will need: Pine cones Glue or Glue Gun Sequins and/or glitter String or ribbon green paint or white paint small amount of garland any color If it isn’t too cold, a nature walk would be fun for the children to collect their own pine cones. Take pine cones and dip them in green or white paint. After it is dry let kids put sequins and/or on it to look like ornament on the tree. After they have dried glue on little bits of Garland and tie the string or ribbon to the top of the pine cone. The bottom of the pine cone can be painted brown to look like a bottom of a Christmas tree. Let dry and spray with Hairspray to keep it together and let it dry. ==================== Play Dough Ornaments 2 cups flour 1 cup of salt 2 tablespoons of Vegetable oil 1/3 - 1 cup water You can make this in a bowl or give each child a large zip lock bag to mix their own... Mix flour and salt together. Add oil. Add water until flour becomes dough like. Cut dough with cookie cutters. Poke a hole in the top of ornament, big enough for a ribbon to fit through. Put on cookie sheet and bake for about an hour (depending on the thickness sometimes more, sometimes less) on 250. Remove from oven and let cool. When cool, paint (for best results use gloss craft paint or metallic). You can add wiggly eyes, glitter, etc. We write our name and year on the back.

Q: Christmas craft ideas/ornaments using the child's pictures?
I teach Kindergarten and am looking for craft ideas, such as ornaments that I could put the child's picture on them. I think it would be a great keepsake. If you have any ideas or something cute your child has made, please share!!!

A: Use laser-cut star shapes, have the kids decorate them with glitter and little glue-one things, and put their picture in the middle of it.

I'm planning on making Christmas ornaments to give as gifts to my family & I've been having a really hard time finding **SOLID RED** GLASS BALL (OR TEARDROP SHAPED) ORNAMENTS online. For the craft I'm doing they need to be solid colored and relatively cheap. Please, please, please! I had no idea how hard it would be to find these! I'm running out of time! I've already checked all of the stores near me.

Q: Christmas Ideas for Senior community?
I live in a senior community. We exchange christmas presents such as cookies or ornaments, something small with many. Do you have any ideas for a healthy, food to make. something easy... thanks, or any other craft idea.... How sad that some are so disrespectful to seniors. Some day they will be at that stage of their life. Happy Holiday

A: Tins of nuts (natural not salted) are good for you as is assorted dried fruits. Cheeses and good crackers. How about home made granola to put in yogurt. Spiced nuts, cheese logs or balls, ingredients to make soups layered in glass jars, fancy teas or coffees. Find a cute plate, jar or mug at the dollar store and use it as part of the gift.

Q: Read this! Its Really Funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Speaking of yarn, it’s EVERYWHERE this month, because craft fairs spring up during the holidays. To a guy, yarn is the gateway to Napville. Nothing in a guy’s world is made of it. (Think yarn guitar, yarn football, Yarn Warrior video game. ) Yet craft fairs are a Yarn-o-Rama! They’re bursting with it. In fact, craft fairs are loaded with materials most guys don’t even know exist—and might even fear. (I get mysteriously nervous around Velcro.) My wife, Sally, and I went to a craft fair recently, and it was like I stumbled into a new world. I mean, I used a glue gun for the first time last week and was amazed: Thought #1: Wow! The glue stick goes in a solid and comes out a liquid! Thought #2: I wonder if I can cram cheese into this? I’d be the Snack King! We passed hundreds of tables of millions of crafts made of billions of snaps, buttons, fabrics, fried eggs, moustaches. . . . Then it hit me: Girls have secret craft powers! They can find ANYTHING and make something out of it—just like that MacGyver guy! A crumpled wrapper, lint, goat hooves and a jar of gravy somehow become a wreath. A noodle and motor oil become a Christmas ornament. How do they do it?! Really, some crafts are clever and, I’ll bravely admit, cute even, although I think I learned a shortcut to cuteness—just glue googly eyes to something. Seriously, take a rock. Add googly eyes. Now it’s a cute craft! It works with anything: pinecones, cotton balls, even bratwurst. Some guys can handle “cute” stuff. But there’s this line where cute becomes “too cute,” and strange things happen inside of a guy such as dizziness, stomach problems or the desire to grow mangos. Here’s an example: Cute: Stuffed puppy (bow around neck may cross the line) Too Cute: Fluffy bear covered in flowers, wearing an apron with geese on it, holding hearts and sunflowers. (Bring on the mangos!) One thing I REALLY liked about the craft fair is that food = craft. Cookies, fudge, candy—now that’s a craft! Except it seems like craft fairs have some small print in the rulebook that says, “All foods must contain nuts.” Brownies with nuts. Caramels with nuts. Nut logs rolled in nuts, topped with ground nuts, packed in a bag made of pressed nuts. If you don’t like nuts, you’re stuck eating a handful of homemade jam (probably nut- flavored). This makes it even harder for guys to go to craft fairs. Maybe there could be special ones such as “Hot Dog Fest,” “Stuff Made Out of Engine Parts Fair” or the “Homemade Fireworks Fiesta” with a sign posted outside: NO NUTS OR FLUFFY BEARS ALLOWED. But maybe craft fairs just need a hipper image (see list above). There could be some cool new reality TV show like “Craft Island” where contestants are surrounded only by sand, a harmonica, a strip of denim and a cup of bacon bits. Then, somehow, one of them makes her own homemade yarn, builds a 40-foot yacht out of it and escapes! I’ll start working on the script today—right after I finish sticking this cheese into Sally’s glue gun.

A: Why is when someone puts "Read this! Its Really Funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... " and you know it is going to be awful but you read it just the same just to prove that you were right all along???????

Q: Scripture ideas for craft ?
I am going to be doing a christmas craft at my son's (christian) preschool this week. We are going to make star ornaments with the a picture of each child intheir christmas play costumes. I would like to put a scripture on the back of the stars. Something that would fit the theme. Any ideas? 10 points for the best answer!

A: How about "Behold I bring you tidings of great joy"

Q: Does anyone know a quick, easy, cheap craft?
I really want to make something and sell it, but, I don't know what. I make keychains, coasters, Christmas tree ornaments, etc. out of leather, but leather is really expensive. I tried knitting scarves & hats out of looms, but it takes forever. I was helping my neighbor make "Fuzzlies", which are puffballs with googly eyes on 'em. (some are bears, fruits, aliens, etc.) But, those are kinda lame and I don't know how much money I could actually make with that. So, idk! Please help!

A: Jewelry is always good and you can do things as simple as friendship bracelets or bandana braceltes. Or you could do lanyards (I have know clue how, but they look cool :-) That's all I've got. Hope I helped! (lemonade&cookies also work well)

Q: What should I do for my friends for Christmas?
I'm having a little trouble deciding what to get my friends for Christmas. I like handmade things (last year I painted wooden boxes) but I'm not sure I have the time this year. I was was thinking about making ornaments (using the clear balls you can get at craft stores) but I don't know if I can make each one unique. Any suggestions? I'd like to do something Christmas and maybe a little Halloween themed (because that's the theme of my party, We're watching Nightmare Before Christmas...) I don't want anything too girly either, because we're not (10th grade) I need to make presents for 6 girls.

A: I agree with the ornament idea... that's what I did this year. To make each one a little more unique I did them each in which ever colours most suited the girl and I replaced the ribbon that came on the top with matching ribbons and made sure to use different shapes of bulbs for each one (but I only had to make 4). You could always make them black and white to go with your theme and then tie a different coloured ribbon on the top for each girl. Make sure you buy extra bulbs, because the first ones I made out didn't work as the different coloured paints just ran into each other a while after I dripped it on and they ended up pretty much one colour! SO I had to go out and buy more and time was a little tight. I did it inside the ball, but u may have better luck if you do it on the outside of the ball instead if might give u better control. Good luck! Have a great party! P.S u can always buy little boxes from the dollar store and put tissue in each on so that the bulb is resting on it when u open the box and wrap it up with matching ribbon that u put on the bulb.
