Q: Any Christmas Decoration Ideas for a dinner?
I know.. there are plenty of ideas out there but I want to create a warm feeling in such a cold area. (Not physically of course) In the hall, the walls are white the tables are long retangular plastic and white, the chairs are also white but match the tables. there are four skinny pillars in a rectangle painted tan (go figure) and the floors are the same color. there's a small stage with navy blue curtains and brown carpeting. there is also two sets of flourescent lighting. Meaning two switches.. you can't fade the lights seemlessly...Yes it's an extremely ugly place and last year at the dinner we had these cheap little fish bowl candle holders and some sort of odd greenery surrounding about six on three long rows of white cold tables. Along with cold cut sandwiches and cold sodas and chips. This year it will be potluck so food will be heartier and warmer. We will have music and possibly a jazz band so with that.. how can i make the rest of the space better?
A: strings and strings of little lights and pine/evergreen branches made into swags tied with dark blue/silver ribbons. paper/cardboard stars covered with glitter hanging from ribbons from the ceiling, blue candles on the tables . a big crockpot of wassail(apple cider/orange juice gingerale mix with slices of fruit and cinnamon sticks simmering will give a nice aroma. you can get cheap plastic table coverings to dress up the tables. i guess actually it depends on time and $$$.
Q: christmas Decoration Ideas! Especially for the tree!?
Homemade Crafts??? What can I do? For the tree and around the home? PLease help. Thanks a douzen in advanced.
S\orry about my spelling. Im typing fast so it gets messed
A: If you're having lots of people over, get ornaments where you can stick their pictures in it and hang those on the trees, they'll enjoy seeing it on your tree. If no picture, have some sweet saying with their name or just their name written fancy (like caligraphy) inserted in the ornament and it becomes their gift as they leave. Lots of candles(can be scented) with pine sprigs and holly around the base is always nice and festive some even smell like fresh baked stuff to give a homey smell.
Q: Christmas/Holiday Decoration Ideas?
Okay if you saw any of my other questions you might now that me and my friends are throwing a christmas/holiday party. How should we decorate my friends basement for the party? Any ideas would be really helpful! We where thinking about changing the lightbulbs to red and green ones, but we dont know if her parents will let us.......but anyways we need ideas! Oh and its gonna be a boy-girl party.
there are gonna be 30 people there, so we can't do the stocking idea, even though it is a good idea =)
A: Just go for a green-red themed thing. Don't go all out with reindeer and Santa. Uhm.. make sure you have enough room to dance... idk what else.
Q: Christmas Tree decoration ideas! please answer...?
Ummm... this x.mas im having family get together on x.mas at my house and i want my tree 8ft tree to look like a prof. decorated it but i want to do it myself wut are some deco. ideas i like darkbrwn. baige and maroon something like that give me some ideas tons of details pls....
A: use only white lights, and as many as you can fit on the tree!
Buy only Maroon, and dark brown ornaments, and add lots of gold, you can cheap gold regular old ball ornaments at any store, like wal-mart or something. I would do mainly gold balls, and throw in some maroon and dark brown every once in a while.
Get some really pretty thick ribbon with those colors that you like in it, the ribbon that has the wired edges. And tie a huge bow at the very top of your tree, and then have "streamers" coming all the way down your tree from the bow.
Here is a great website with lots of pictures of themed christmas trees, notice the TOPS of all of the trees have neat tops, and all the trees have TONS of ribbon.
http://www.remodelingmyspace.com/christmas-decoration-ideas/christmas-trees/pictures-decorated-christmas-tree-themes.htm
You can get some brown paint pens or permanent markers and draw VERY SIMPLE designs on some of the VERY CHEAP gold ornament balls also, that would make it even more decorative! Just do very simple swirls. don't be afraid of the cheap gold ornaments, the lights make everything look good. I would also coordinate all of your wrapped presents. My favorite way to do it is to wrap all the gifts in brown kraft paper (cheap, in the packaging (postal) section of every store) And then use pretty ribbons on the packages, in lots of diffferent colors, maroon, dark brown, gold, ivory, it really ties the whole tree together.
It's really easy to make a tree look beautiful when you stick to a theme like you are doing, just don't go overboard buying a bunch of expensive ornaments, it's all about the colors and the light, the cheap gold balls will look like a million bucks with the ribbon and all the fun stuff.
Happy Holidays!!!!!
ohhh..some feathers would look really pretty in a tree with those colors, and would be really cool if you had some coming out of the top of the tree also!
wow, i was looking for pictures of trees with feathers, and this is an example of a tree theme gone WRONG.

Q: I need ideas for Christmas decoration!?
I want to decorate my house in a true meaningful way, not the made up stuff you know what I mean? My friend does her tree with the fruits of the spirit and I love that idea! But need something different,,,
A: Add a Yule Log next to the fire place (if you have one?). You can decorate with pine cones and sprigs of evergreen and pine. What about an angel theme? Or maybe even a color theme? I did my tree this year with A Christmas Story theme, and used only red and yellow lights on the tree. We even put the life size leg lamp in the window.
And idea just hit - Friendship - Silver and Gold.

3. you could decorate it in many shades of your favorite color.
Q: Does anybody have any ideas about Christmas, simple, fun, little ideas for decorations?
My family doesn't really give a crap about Christmas decorations (basically only a well-decorated tree in the living room and presents).
A: wrap the front door like a present and put a big bow on it.If you have a porch with railings wrap some garland around it and tie a bow.If you have a fireplace drape some garland set some candles on mantel, use left over ornaments to hang down, tie a bow around a jar or other small container and put candy canes in it.Small touches make a nice Christmas decorations and of course live greenery always smells so good.I bet you can think of many things now good luck and happy decorating!

Q: What r some good ideas for homemade Christmas decorations for around the home?
A: It's fun to take a big bowl, or a large glass hurricane lamp and fill them up with Pinecones that you have lightly dusted with a fine gold glitter, or fill them up with various tree ornaments (balls) If you use the pinecone idea, add some red berries (hard ones that won't rot)
Q: What are some good ideas for stocking stuffers and Christmas decorations?
This is the first Christmas my husband and I are having together and I haven't decorated for Christmas for as long as I can remember. My family never really decorated after my parents got divorced and I never helped before then because I was too young.
My husband and I are decorating this year though, and other than the tree and lights, I really can't think of any other good ideas. I know he will have a few, but I want as many ideas as I can get.
Also what are some good ideas for things to put in stockings, because I want to do that this year too and I've never had one before. It's just me and my husband and our cat. No children.
Any ideas you have would be helpful. Thanks.
A: Depends on your budget...
We're having our first family Christmas since my father died (August), so we're thinking about having Christmas at my house instead of my mother's.
For us, the real memories come with the traditions and the handmade things...I've embroidered stockings for everyone in the family, my mother made the tree skirts we use...we still put up the little silver aluminum tree my grandmother bought for $1.98 in the early 1960's...and every "after Christmas" we go to the Hallmark store and buy 1 ornament for each of the kids (I usually get one or two for myself).
The best part is for you and hubby and kitty to go shopping together (try a pet store that allows pets to come in!). Think outside the box - how about one of those cool cat climbing/nesting things that are tall - you could hide kitty treats in it and new kitty toys...and decorate the climber with garland and unbreakable Christmas balls (kitty will love playing with them!).
Whatever you want in your stockings - you could be risque and go to an adult store and get all sorts of interesting things...or you could hint to hubby that you want lots of sparkly things, like earrings and so forth, in yours....cologne, aftershave, soaps...or be a kid, and buy silly stuff, like a slinky, silly putty, yoyos, whoopie cushions, wind up toys or race cars, kalidescopes, tops, jacks....gift certificates to a day spa....cheesy little pocket books that they display on the checkout counter of the bookstores at Christmastime...candy, fruit, nuts....mice (for the kitty)...basically, anything you run across that will fit in the stocking!
Other decorations than tree and lights....
Well, one year, my aunt did a tree for each room in her house, with a different theme...another year she did the whole house in teddy bears...
there's the requisite wreath for the front door (back door optional), a seasons greetings welcome mat, some jingle bells for the doorknobs....
Outdoor decorations - just go to WalMart and look! Animated reindeer, spiral light trees, nativity scenes, giant blow up snow globes and santas and grinches and snowmen
indoors, fix the guest bath up with seasonal towels, soap and lotion dispensers, tissue boxes, and Christmas scented air fresheners or candles
for the formal dining table - mix crystal and silver pieces with fresh cut or silk greenery and use lots of candles and throw in some pretty ribbons and bows
Get a copy of Martha Stewart Living for December for some great ideas...even previous year's issues....or go online to marthastewart.com
Try some of the other home decorating and women's magazines as well, like Better Homes and Gardens, Ladies Home Journal, Real Simple, Architectural Digest
Another great place to shop for Christmas items - your local pool and patio store - for Christmas, they usually restock the entire shop in indoor and outdoor decorations!
And don't forget the Advent Calendar!!!
Have a very Merry Christmas and I hope you have many, many more!!
Q: Catching robbers stealing christmas decorations? Ideas for a camera system, or any other systems?
Every christmas my parents decorate their house and go all out. My mom makes wood characters and stuff. Well last night someone stole one of the characters she worked hours on. She's accepted it as thats what hapens when you take that risk, but shes upset, I know she is.
But to my question, I'm not sure if there IS anything, but I want to get her like some simple system possibly like a camera system that she can set up every year. I don't know much on the subject so I wanted to ask some people who might know more about it, what would you recommend?
Also, does anyone have any other ideas to catch/scare off these people? I was thinking maybe sensor lights..
Thanks, I really appreciate it.
A: The most basic system consists of a lawn chair and a shotgun.
Q: Can you give me some novel ideas of christmas decorations for my tree?
A: Mix up a batch of baker's clay and using your fav cookie cutter cut out 'cookies' and bake to harden...make sure you make a hole in each cookie to pass a ribbon thru for hanging before you bake...then when cool decorate (paint) and hang on the tree....if stored carefull will last for quite a few years.
Collect pine cones....clear of bugs & sap by placing on a foil lined cookie pan & pop in 250 degree farenheit oven for 10 min....cool and decorate by spray painting silver or gold.and roll in sparkles will still tacky....glue a ribbon for hanging on top. For a more naturallook get clear or white sparkles, paint the projections on each cone with elmer's glue and roll in sparkles for a snow covered look.
Use fruit loops spaced with stale popcorn for a candy tree look...and no cranberry mess!
Hang little lollipops and round peppermint candies as ornaments....in the wrappers, of course, along with candy canes... get tiny little red bows and fasten on ends of branches.
Get that shiny thin metallic ribbon for gifts and loop thru the branches of tree in random patterns....or make a very long bunch of strands oof ribbons, fasten to top of tree and let them cascade artfully down...best done with very thin ribbon.
Glue raw wagon wheel pasta into 'snowflake shapes'...spray paint & decorate with glitter.
Buy inexpensive but pretty cookie cuttrs in holiday patterns, tie with ribbon and hang from tree...
Clamp old fashioned clip earrings on branches for 'jewels'
Merry Christmas!
