Q: What's your favorite thing about the Christmas season?
Mine is the christmas music, walking into a store and seeing beautiful Christmas decorations and smelling cinnamon or a Christmas poupouri as you walk through the door and even it snowing. I love the Christmas season, it's a beautiful time of year.
A: I love all of the decorations, the snow, and it is so happy-feeling around Christmastime.
Q: Suggestions on how to make my Christmas decorations more Nightmare Before Christmas / Tim Burton-esque?
I'm looking for suggestions on what to add to my Christmas decorations. Today I've gone on this huge Tim Burton kick, and I started decorating for Christmas, I wanted to go with the whole Nightmare Before Christmas theme this year, being it looks cool, and that's my all time favorite movie! So far, I've put orange and white Christmas lights over the windows. (Note: this is decoration on the INSIDE of my house, in my room, haha.) I also put a string of lights around to where the little cranny goes to the bathroom, where there are 3 dips in the lights, and I placed vectored printouts of Lock, Shock, and Barrel's masks. If that makes sense. XD
Basically I want suggestions on what I can add to my room to make it epically amazing, without buying actual Nightmare decorations! I have a ceiling fan, some door frames, lots of wall space, a really short hallway, and a ceiling I can hang stuff from to work with! Any suggestions would help, to make my room more Tim Burton-y, creativity is highly encouraged! And I mean Tim Burton-esque in general! It doesn't have to be just Nightmare! But I want to stick to a good balance of dark, and Christmas!
EDIT: Oh, and I really want it to be similar to Haunted Mansion Holiday in Disneyland, if you know what I mean. Kind of like the Nightmare characters came and tried to remodel everything! Thanks!
A: If you are able to purchase fabric and sew, you could sew and stuff pillows or plush dolls of the characters. You could also get blank stockings and make your own Nightmare Before Christmas/Tim Burton themed stockings. If you're putting up a tree, stretch cobwebs over the tree and then add black, orange or purple lights. You can buy or make decorations to add onto the tree. I did this for Halloween and everyone loved it! You can print out pictures of characters and paint/color them and use the pictures for wall hangings, magnets, door signs, etc..

Q: christmas time has any other meaning for u but to shop in the malls n spend money for decorations?
how about collectin money for poor people or veterans. wheres the unity, humanity? how long more you gonna live a selfish life?where is the neighbourhood? i live in a efficency my neighbour every morning pass by my door and he never knocks.he never ask how u doing. he just says hi sometimes.
how come u expect salvation from jesus then?
A: Christmas is Jesus' birthday. Without Jesus, there would be no such holiday as Christmas. I wish the non-believers would realize that there HAS to be a Jesus, or else where did Christmas come from. CHRIST mas. Did someone just come up with that? Of course not.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Q: When should I decorate my door for Christmas?
Okay here is the problem. I want to start decorating my dorm door for Christmas but I can't figure out when. I already have my door decorated for Halloween and I'll be taking those decorations down within two days afterwards. I have three weeks before Thanksgiving and then only two weeks until Christmas break after I get back from Thanksgiving. I don't want to decorate too early but I want people to enjoy the decorations. However I also feel that after I get back from Thanksgiving I won't have enough time to decorate. I guess what I'm looking for is how to time this without looking too tactless and while giving people time to get in the Christmas spirit.
A: Most people decorate after Thanksgiving. The retail stores decorate after halloween. There is a method to their madness, they want to put you in the spirit to buy, buy, buy and spend, spend, spend.
There are times when I don't put the tree up until 2 weeks or less before Christmas. Well part of the reason is because in my neighborhood we are the Griswolds. 8 animated reindeer a 5 foot sleigh and flying rudolph, Nativity , lot's of blow ups, drummer boys all sizes, animated angels candy canes, candy cane arbors you get the picture lights on the entire house.
Merry Christmas and put them up when you want and forget tactless because tacky is reserved for us. LoL!
Q: What decorations do you have that you put up each year out of tradition?
Do you have a color theme? Or go with an old fashioned look? Perhaps
you prefer a flocked tree and choose one color of decorations? I'm
interested in how you dress up your living rooms for the holidays. And
do you still hang up your Christmas cards on doors or mantel?
A: I have a Christmas village with a lot of pieces I always put out.It takes several tables to set it up. The grandkids love it.Of course I do the traditional tree and lots of other Christmas decor. It is getting to be a chore to put it all up and take it down but it is so cozy looking at night with all the lights out.The room feels so Christmassey.
Q: How to decorate a hallway for Christmas?
I have to decorate my school hallway for Christmas. I have ideas of hanging snowflakes and candles on the floor and putting decorations on the door. However, I have no idea how to decorate the walls in an easy, fast and cost effective way since we don't have much money or time. Any ideas? thanks.
A: School halls are busy places. I would stay with the ceiling and along the wall very close to the ceiling. Use the snow flakes and cheap green garland scalloped along the wall close to the ceiling and put some sparkle using tensile.
You could make a couple of Merry Christmas signs using cardboard and construction paper.
Have fun.
Q: Christmas decoration on a patio? Extension cord???
I am trying to run and extension cord out of my patio door but it doesn't close properly. My little girl really wants to see the decorations...
Is there such a thing as a flat extension cord?
Any suggestions?
A: Ready? You need duct tape.. run the cord thru the door then duct tape the opening.. it will keep out the weather and you will still see the pretty lights..
Q: The apartment manager where I live sent a note asking that Christmas decorations be taken down?
I can't remember the exact words, but the way it was stated made it seem like she meant inside as well. I always keep my snowmen and some of the others (no tree, lights, etc.) up all winter-can she tell me what I can decorate with inside my apt.? She is a new manager, and there is always some note on the doors about things like this! I wish I could move now, but I can't afford to. thanks!!
p.s. This is my first time posting a question and I'm not sure which category this should have went in?!
hmmm...I don't see where I can reply to answers? I'll get the hang of this someday-I just wanted to say thanks for answering! I know she's got her hands full, many of the people here are, well, not people you'd want to live by (that's why we keep to ourselves) and it is more peaceful here since she started, I'll try to think of it from her point of view:)
A: I agree she means outside. You could decorate your living space any way you choose as long as it does not violate any by-laws or interfere with the safety of others. I was a landlord for more than 30 years and believe me I have seen it all. Your new apt. manager will settle down soon she or he is just trying to get it right. They just want everyone to be happy and content. It is a very hard job. Be patient.
Q: Looking around at all the commercialism and decorations, why do people try so hard....?
...to celebrate the birth of a Savior whom they reject?
I'd be willing to bet that if you went up to the door of the house with the most Christmas decorations and tried to talk to them about the saving grace of Christ, they'd probably slam the door in your face!
A: Merchants have used Christmas to get in the black ("Black Friday") instead of promoting it as what it really does stand for. Most people have forgotten what the true meaning of Christmas is. Its not how many decorations you have outside or how much money you spend on gifts. Most people just need to remember that the true meaning of Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. It bothers me too!
Q: How do I keep birds from getting in my attic?
Every day and night, I will be laying on the couch or doing something around the house and I hear birds singing above me! And, once, I opened my attic door to get some stored christmas decorations out and a bird flew in my face. I have no idea how they are getting in and i'm kind of scared of finding out. Any advice on keeping them out would be appreciated. Thank you
A: They're probably getting in thru an open attic vent. Since it's important to have ventilation...the best thing is to put screen over the vents
Q: Decorating a horse stall with a Christmas theme?
I have a 12 x 12 stall with a sliding door that I want to decorate for Christmas. I plan on making a carrot and apple wreath but then I am at a loss as the door is opened everyday and I don't want the decorations to get damaged. Any ideas?
A: l8dflyer, I tend to go overboard when decorating evrey year. I like to visit lots of stores to see what the new christmas decorating trends are. http://www.christmasdecorationsstores.com
