Q: Is having blue led christmas lights on in your room while you sleep harmful to your health?
I have them near the ceiling in my room as night light. Is the blue wavelength harmful to your health?

A: They aren't harmful to your health in any way, but some people have trouble sleeping with lights on, and lack of sleep is not good for your health. I'm guessing you don't have trouble sleeping with them, though, or you probably wouldn't be doing it. :)

Q: is there meaning or symbol for using blue Christmas lights?

A: Not really -- it was a current 'designer trend' one year (the blues) -- and actually -- they are very pretty with all blue lights (which is why I purchased a few sets). In my case, blue is the color of MY Military Service too -- so it is not only pretty (Cool colors are very calming), but also ties back to who I am. (I just like the color).

Q: why do blue / green lights look more blurry than other colors?
I used to have 20/20 vision but over the past few years it got a tad worse, not enough to require glasses though. I tend to notice blurriness when looking at lights, especially while driving at night. I first noticed it when looking at green lights -- it's very difficult to see the perfect circle of the light. However red and yellow lights are a bit easier to focus on. With the holidays I also noticed that blue christmas lights are much more blurry than other colors. The blue ones are two or three times more blurry. So I'm curious why certain color lights are more blurry than others. For that matter, why are lights blurry, but other objects (like streetsigns right next to the light) are perfectly clear? it's weird.

A: The lens in the eye is a 'simple' lens, uniformly made of one material. When light passes through, it breaks the light apart much as a prism does. Blue is at one extreme end of the scale and is usually the one you notice blurring at, because the image doesn't quite coincide with the image formed by the rest of the colors. There are two ways around this. In optical instruments, several lenses are glued together, each has a different index of refraction, but the combined effect is to bring all the colors together. The other way is to filter out the blue. Birds of prey have a natural brown pigment in their eyes. Blue-blocker sunglasses with brown lenses have gotten popular for the same reason. (Decades ago, it seemed like all sunglasses were green.) You notice the lights are blurry because you're just looking at a point of light. If you're looking at a larger object, you don't notice the little bit of blurring. But you really can't see a little speck of dirt on it that you could years ago. One of the tiny light bulbs and the speck of dirt are the same size, and blurred the same amount. The light is bright enough to see though, and to notice what's happening with your eyes.

Q: Dark blue and purple christmas lights?
Every Christmas when I go larger towns and cities (I live in Wisconsin) they always have the coolest looking lights. They are dark blue (not the regular blue, like really dark blue) and dark purple. There's alot of them in the Wisconsin Dells. Where can I buy some of them? They aren't in Wal-mart as far as I know when I was looking around....

Q: I have seen blue Christmas light hung in the area, what does that mean?
I've been told it means the household is Jewish. I'd like a clearification on this topic.

A: it means kmart is having a sale on Santas. Jews don't put holiday lights up...blue or otherwise.
