Q: What are the typical consumption of LED/regular christmas lights?
Does anyone have any info whether LED lights are worth the extra 8-10 dollar premium over regular christmas lights?
A: Led lights generally draw way LESS than conventional bulbs. They also last forever.
Q: Are LED christmas lights tough?
I can't seem to find the video of the truck running over the LED christmas lights. Not the video of just a regular LED light but a chrismas light strand. Please Help!!
A: The answer will depend on the make and model of the LEDs. I have seen the video that you are thinking of, but cannot remember where I saw it either.
They are pretty durable, but on some brands, the cover will fall off. If you can find it, you simply glue it onto the bulb and it is good to go.
Q: Can you use Plug-IN Ornament's with LED Christmas lights?
I think LED are hard wired, so you wouldn't be able to remove a light to plug in an ornament. I might have just answered my own question but I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them.
A: No I don't think you can.You could always run a small set on your tree for the ornaments.
Q: Which are brighter LED C7's or C9's Christmas string lights?
I have heard that actually C7's LED Christmas lights are brighter than LED C9's even though they are smaller. Does anyone know for sure? Thanks!
A: There are many styles of LED lights including sizes of the bulbs. Depending on if they are full wave or half wave also contributes to the performance of the lights. In addition, there are many differences between manufacturers and brands. In other words, not all LEDs are the same.
LED's are sometimes a single bulb, and others are a series of bulbs all packed into a C-7 or C-9 container.
I have used Home Depot Brand C-9s and they are okay - not the best, but they were given to me so I do not think that much about it.
If you are talking about the C-9s that can be replaced, I woud disagree as they are very bright.

Personally, I like the C-7 from Creative Displays. Paul Sessel sells a great light.
Q: Where can I buy LED christmas lights?
A: target.. i saw them there yesterday.
Q: Do my LED Christmas lights use less energy in slow blinking mode to that of static mode?
ernie asked whether I was Scottish or not:
God knows what mix I am! Though, I do know that I have traced ancestors back way before 1800's - if that helps?
I don't really care... and neither should you! :o)
A: You can think of blinking like a pulse width modulation (PWM). The slower the blink, the shorter the duty cycle. Static mode is 100% duty cycle, so blinking should use less energy. The "average" power is less.
Q: Can LED Christmas lights be connected to dimming/flashing music box?
For nearly 20 years, we have had a little electronic box ("Mr. Christmas Carolites") that plays various Christmas carols. It has an electrical outlet on it to which you can connect a few strings of Christmas lights, which then flash and fade in and out in rhythm with the music the box is playing. It has always been a part of our Christmas tree, and has always worked quite well.
This year, we are changing over to LED lights on our Christmas tree. On one hand, we don't want to give up the music box that has made our tree a conversation starter for so many years, but on the other hand, we don't want to risk possibly damaging the new LED lights by subjecting them to the repeated rhythmic flashing and brightening/dimming the music box creates.
So, I thought I would ask those who have more experience with LED Christmas lights...would they be damaged or otherwise adversely affected by connecting them to this music box, causing them to brighten and dim and flash hundreds of times per hour?
A: Depending on the manufacturer of the LEDs, you may see shimmer, or flashing when the controller fades them. I have used LEDs in my display and turned them on, off, shimmering fading up and down without damage to the LEDs themselves.
But, if you see flashing or shimmering in your LEDs the way to stop that is to add a strand of conventional lights to the end of the chain to generate a load on them.
There has been a great deal of discussion about LEDs over on the http://www.PlanetChristmas.com and http://planetchristmas.mywowbb.com/ forums.
http://www.crazylightlady.us in Allen Texas talks about how to build a resister which will accomplish the same as a strand of lights.
Q: I have some led christmas tree lights from last year?
that don't work now. How can you tell which bulb isn't working as they are not fused?
A: LED lights are not wired in series, so if you checked the plug, the problem is in the controller unit. This cannot be repaired.
Q: which lasts longer LED Christmas Lights, or The Regular ones?
And by how much?
A: the LED lamps will last almost forever. However, it's still the same cheap, small guage wiring used with regular light sets. Right now it's not worth the extra cost. The quality just isn't there.
If you use *LOTS* of lights or are on a power budget (like you're using a generator) LEDs may be better due to using less power.
Q: Purple christmas LED lights...plz help?
Hey! I really want purple LED lights for my christmas tree, and I'm not sure where to find them, everywhere I look they only have white, blue, and multi-color. If someone could please tell me where to look I would so appreciate it. Thanks!!! =]]]
A: Your best sources for Quality Purple LED lights will be either http://www.actionlighting.com or http://www.CreativeDisplays.com
If they do not have them, then you will need to ask the members of http://www.PlanetChristmas.com forum as they will know where to find some.
There are companies like inergee.com (?) that have them too.

Q: Hi,How come you can't add miniChristmas lights to a string of Led Christmas lights? Please let me know why...
A: LEDs are light emitting diodes and require different voltage than the regular light,,the voltage required for a regular light would cause the LEDs to blow,,,
Q: We bought LED Christmas tree lights this year, why is one strand flashing?
We bought 7 strands of the same LED pinecone shaped lights from Walgreens. They are so pretty and vibrant, however one strand is flashing on and off. The boxes say nothing about flashing. Does anyone know why this may be happening?
A: usually the first bulb from the plug can be changed to a stay on all the time....it is solid in color
