Q: Poll: would you rather have Christmas lights or Halloween decorations?
Which one would you enjoy having on your house all year? Christmas Lights or Halloween Decorations?

A: Christmas! I go shopping every weekend and I come home with new Christmas stuff all the time. My hubby gets mad because we already put all the Christmas stuff away. But that's okay...we can just get new boxes to put the new stuff in, right? Plus, it is red-neck code to keep your lights up all year long, and I gotta follow the rules!

Q: Does Lakeside Shopping Centre in Essex have it's Christmas lights/decorations up yet?


A: Yes the tree has been up for a few weeks now.. The grottos there and is open.. That opened on 1st November. xx

Q: Are your Christmas lights/decorations still up?
And are you still lighting them? I drove by one street today where almost everyone's xmas lites & decorations were still up & all the houses were lit. Wonder why?

A: Mine come down a week after as well. Maybe the people that still have them up are leaving them up until a loved one comes home from Iraq or something meaningful like that and not just obnoxiously lazy.

I am the only one who finds it odd that people are spending so much money on Christmas Outdoor Decorations and Lights? It seems that each year the Christmas Lights get more elborate and can light up towns for miles. Don't assume I am a Grinch or anti-Christmas as I will drive around looking in awe at lights . Its just with so many screaming GREEN conserve energy that they have not yet ruined this costly display of money? I am talking about homes who use many computers to program lights and decorations outside. It just not make sense to me at all does it to anyone else?

A: I loove Christmas lights, but I agree, we should not exaggerate with them and not for the bills, but for the lost of energy.

A: Go to Dovewood Court in Orangevale, near Divine Savior Catholic Church. This street is locally famous for Annual Christmas Light Display. It is awesome. Bring a canned food item for charity if you can. Take a short drive down Auburn Blvd. in Citrus Heights. Located on streets off of Cirby and near Sierra College Blvd and Wachtel, there are so many houses on the streets in that area which are decorated for the holidays.Go down Auburn Blvd, turn left on Fair Oaks Blvd., cross Oak Ave and here you will find many more houses decorated. These neighbors compete for best lighted house in the contests on the radio and tv. You will enjoy this drive at night. Christmas Eve... Hidden Lakes Estates and Folsom Lake Estates in Granite Bay are locally famous for Luminary Display. There are a few houses in Folsom Lake Estates that decorate " over the top " with Huge generators to light the grounds and play music. Great shows. Call the local Limo company and ask them where do they take their rides. California Limo, Lakeshore Limo are a few in your area. The fab 40's are great, but it is often foggy on these Christmas holiday nights.

If I go to Manhattan after Thanksgiving, around Nov 27th or so.. will there be Christmas lights, store window displays and decorations??

A: The big department stores usually unveil their Christmas windows early in November. This year Thanksgiving was November 23, the tree at Rockefeller Center was put up on November 10th, was lit on November 29th and was taken down on January 8th. If you really enjoy Christmas decorations, there are bus tours that take you to Dyker Heights in Brooklyn and areas in the Bronx that are famous for homes with spectacular Christmas decorations (or get on a subway and visit them by yourself - more lights than Las Vegas).

A: Wow, my city's decorations have nothing on London's! For my city, this is about as good as it gets haha: http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e264/Cai17/PC220020.jpg. And then we have banners and such on posts and stuff like that.

A: Try Tropical Park at Bird Road & the Palmetto Expressway. There is a large christmas light show there as well as several nearby street all lit up.

Q: Free Christmas lights to see in Atlanta/metro?
I'm looking for neighborhoods that go all out on Christmas lights/decorations this year! Lake Lanier is pretty lame, Callaway is too far and expensive, and I've done the Lights of Life thing a million times. Do any of you live in or know of neighborhoods in Atlanta and the metro-area that have awesome lights? I've seen AJC archive articles saying Sherwood Forest and John's Creek/Alpharetta - is that still the case this year? Thanks!

Q: How do you tell which light bulb is burned out and keeping lighted Christmas decorations from burning.?
I have a teriffic train that is not fulled lighted and a snowman with the top half off. What am I looking for to replace these bulbs? How can you tell if its a fuse?

A: If its a clear bulb, if you look at each bulb you can usually see if the film wire which is what lights up, is broken, or missing. Compare it to other bulbs if in doubt but its very similar then when your household incandescent light bulb burns out. Light sets usually come with 1 or 2 replacement too so keep those handy. My mom usually just restocks the burned ones at the sacrifice of one strip of lights.

A: No trully correct day. It seems to be up to everyone to follow their own inclinations. Those who follow the Anglican tradition of 12th night do wait until after then, but again, that is not an absolute necessity. --That Cheeky Lad

Q: Do you ever use Christmas lights for decorations other than Christmas?
For example, I used clear lights in my wedding decor. I also have a strand of purple lights in my bedroom for "mood lighting." Do you use lights for anything?

A: Yes, we have a string of many colored year round in our den. I also have those rope ones in blue around my gazebo outside.
