Q: Any preschool christmas ornament ideas?
Does anyone have any good ideas for making homemade christmas ornaments? This is my first year teaching preschool and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas.

A: You could use constuction paper and have them make garland. Lots of glitter, kid glue ( I suggest the sticks). Maybe get a polaroid camera and take pics of the kids and have them make decorations of there pics with paper and glue and glitter for there family. You could use yarn to make loops to hang them so the kids don't cut themselves metal..You could also make tiny little presents with the kids pics in side..etc...just be creative and research on the internet.

Q: I am looking for a recipe for homemade clay that my kids can paint to make ornaments?
I have made Christmas ornaments out of salt dough, but I am looking for something that won't get soggy when it gets lots of paint on it (my 5 yr old gets a little carried away) The salt dough gets soggy and then the paint looks all cracked.

A: SIMPLE SOLUTION: #1: MAKE, BAKE, AND DECORATE This is an excellent recipe for homemade ornaments. The dough is very easy to work with, and once baked the ornaments are very firm and easy to paint. INGREDIENTS 1 cup salt 2 cups flour 1 cup water 2 tablespoons vegetable oil water-based paints Place dry ingredients in a bowl, add the water and oil, then stir until blended. Once the dough holds together, make it into a ball and knead it with your hands to make a smooth texture. Place the dough on a cutting board, and using a rolling pin, roll the dough out into a pancake shape that is a bit thicker than you would use for regular cut-out cookies. Cut out the ornaments with cookie cutters, design your own ornaments using a blunt knife, or shape dough with your fingers. Punch or carve a hole into the top of the ornament to thread a string through to hang the decoration. Bake at 250 degrees until hard (for one to two hours). Once cooled, paint with water-based paints if desired, or glue on glitter using white household glue. Thread a string or ribbon through the hole and hang the decoration on the tree or elsewhere in your home. These ornaments can be reused year after year.

Q: Homemade Christmas Gifts?
I'm thinking of giving a lot of homemade Christmas Gifts. Decorated ornaments, decorated wreaths that I've done myself and even some baked goods. Despite the fact that these items are cheap to make and some have errors, people should be touched by the fact that they are personal..right?

A: yes- unless you are a rude person with no heart- everyone appreciates a homemade gift. try to personalize each one you make for specific people- by either writing their names on the ornaments or picking colors that go along with their homes on the wreaths. another fun item to make for people is mixes in jars for your cookies- that way they can make them on their own instead of having to eat that and tons of other holiday goodies they've received all at once. get canning jars from the grocery store or even thrift stores have a bunch- then add all your dry mixes to the jar and seal, then write out wet ingredients to add and how to make and bake the cookies. you can also do soup mixes or smaller jars for dip mixes.

Q: How to handle Christmas gift "snobs"?
My husband's maternal grandparents have very odd ideas of what is appropriate to give them for Christmas. They basically want cash or a gift card and they're very particular about the amount. My husband and I moved from Delaware to Alabama this June and are planning on driving up for Christmas as a surprise. He just graduated from college and we're trying to buy a house so money is a little tight now. We thus can't afford to give large sums of cash to everyone so I've decided to make presents for our parents and his grandparents. The only people I'm giving money to are his younger brothers and my younger sister. I'm VERY crafty and good at baking so I've decided to make little gift baskets filled with homemade Christmas ornaments, cookies, candy and other goodies. My husband is afraid that his grandmother is going to make a stink because we "didn't spend money on her". I was taught from a young age that a thoughtful homemade gift often times shows more love than one bought at a store. I also believe that Christmas means more than just expensive gifts and over the limit credit cards. If she says something to me, how should I respond? Any ideas?

A: Hm... If she says something... you need to remind her of the spirit of christmas. Remind her that you made this with your own hands, instead of paying for children in China to make it with theirs. :o/

Q: Need an idea for a homemade Christmas gift.?
Ok, I want to make my aunt a homemade Christmas gift. I took an ornament ball and painted it blue and then painted on the Cubs logo, since she is a huge Cubs fan. I had planned on making a snowglobe for her with the ornament but I tried numerous jars around the house and the ball looked so funny in the jar with water. So, I need a new idea of a craft that will incorporate this Cubs ornament. I really want to keep this inexpensive. Any ideas would be very helpful. Thank You! LG, I like your idea of the wreath. I have more ornaments that I don't use. Maybe I could paint some more and fasten them to the wreath and put a bow at the top.

A: What about a wreath that incorporates the prime colors; you can spray paint the wreath blue and white and attach a bow or bows and ribbons and attach the ornament as the major focal point of the wreath. Or spray the wreath blue and use white bows (or white with blue bows); or use the wreath in its natural green and add blue and white ribbons and bows - always utilizing the ornament as the main focal point.

Q: Does anyone have any recipes for homemade clay?
my lil bro loves to play with clay so I thought me n him could make our own christmas ornaments... so if anyone has any recipes for homemade clay let me know! Ps. I'm kinda looking for recipes that dont include baking the clay jus letting it dry but any recipes will b great!
